{"id":1823,"date":"2023-01-04T18:38:23","date_gmt":"2023-01-04T09:38:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/baiforum.jp\/en\/?p=1823"},"modified":"2023-01-04T18:38:23","modified_gmt":"2023-01-04T09:38:23","slug":"re057","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/baiforum.jp\/en\/report\/re057\/","title":{"rendered":"The 7th BAIRAL Research Meeting for 2022 Report on \u201cPossibilities and Challenges of Metaverse \u2013 Metaverse School of Engineering\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span lang=\"EN-US\">On <\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">November 16, 2022<\/span><span lang=\"EN-US\">,<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/baiforum.jp\/en\/projects\/bairal\/\">&#8220;BAIRAL&#8221; <\/a><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\"><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">(<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1rem;\">a study group organized by research assistants of the B\u2019AI Global Forum) held its 7th meeting for 2022 online. The guest speaker was Prof. Masahiko Inami, Special Advisor to the President, and Professor at the Information Somatics Laboratory of the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, the University of Tokyo. He talked about his ongoing \u201cJIZAI-Body Project\u201d and the metaverse.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This meeting was planned based on the opening of the Metaverse School of Engineering in September 2022. The lecture was a valuable opportunity for us to hear not only about the Metaverse School of Engineering, but also about his \u201cJIZAI-Body Project\u201d and the possibilities and challenges of the metaverse which has currently been a trend.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The lecture by Prof. Inami was divided into three parts. The first part was an introduction to his ongoing &#8220;JIZAI-Body Project,&#8221; featuring a variety of actual research activities. In the next part, he described VR research and utilization at the University of Tokyo and how it led to the opening of the metaverse school.
