Paolo Granata is an Associate Professor at St. Michael\u2019s College in the University of Toronto.<\/span><\/p>\n

As a leading expert in media ecology \u2013 nurtured by the centuries-old tradition of his Alma Mater, the University of Bologna \u2013 his research and teaching interests lie broadly in the areas of media ethics, semiotics, print culture, and visual studies. Since 2011, he has been a Marshall McLuhan Centenary Fellow at the University of Toronto.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Join us for a special event where innovation meets creativity through the lens of one of the most influential thinkers of the 20th century, Marshall McLuhan.<\/span><\/p>\n

Paolo Granata, a Professor at the University of Toronto, will present \u201cThe Medium\u201d, a boardgame that challenges players to decode the essence and impact of technological innovation using McLuhan\u2019s Laws of Media, also known as the McLuhan Tetrad. This framework offers a critical lens to analyze any medium, technology, or human innovation, providing insights into its role and effects within the human-technology ecosystem.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the event, Professor Granata will give an insightful presentation on the development method and process behind designing this educational board game. Participants will then have the chance to engage with the game. This hands-on experience encourages participants to uncover hidden patterns of technological influence and recognize the intended and unintended consequences of human innovation.<\/span><\/p>\n
