The Trauma Reporting Study Group (Chair: Michiko Kawahara) has produced an authorized Japanese translation of \u201cFive Tips Protecting Yourself Against TFGBV\u201d, a resource developed in 2024 by the Centre for Journalism and Trauma (formerly Dart Centre Asia Pacific) in collaboration with its fellows across the Asia\u2013Pacific region. TFGBV refers to \u201cTechnology\u2011Facilitated Gender\u2011Based Violence.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u25cf\u30aa\u30f3\u30e9\u30a4\u30f3\u66b4\u529b\u304b\u3089\u8eab\u3092\u5b88\u308b5\u3064\u306e\u30d2\u30f3\u30c8<\/a><\/p>\n Journalistic work today is inseparable from online communication and digital information gathering. Yet the convenience of digital tools comes with significant risks: journalists are increasingly exposed to online harassment, threats, and various forms of technology\u2011mediated abuse. Such online violence tends to target women and minorities first, and in some cases can lead to real\u2011world harm.<\/p>\n The \u201cFive Tips\u201d resource is intended to help journalists recognize their own circumstances within such working environments and consider ways to reduce or prevent risks.<\/p>\n Although the resource had already been translated into Chinese, Korean, Hindi, and several other languages, no Japanese version existed. After discussing the translation within the study group during the 2025 academic year, we completed the Japanese edition and shared it with the Centre. It was subsequently posted on the Centre\u2019s LinkedIn page on March 6, 2026.
