Dr. Hui-Wen Liu, Professor, Department of Communication, National Chengchi University (NCCU), Taiwan

◇Abstract
Since the rise of social media, social science researchers have faced an overwhelming amount of linguistic data. Traditional qualitative research methods then started struggling to keep up, particularly in terms of the speed for manual classification, annotation, and analysis.

Can AI help social scientists overcome the challenges posed by the sheer volume of data?

The speaker explores this question by attempting to train AI models to accelerate the analysis of social media corpora. However, this raises a deeper issue: is AI truly a “collaborator” in the research process, or merely a “research assistant”?

This talk will share a practical experience related to frame analysis.
