BAIRALB’AI RA League

BAIRAL (B’AI RA League) is a study group by young research assistants (RA) of the B’AI Global Forum of the Institute for AI and Beyond at the University of Tokyo. Aiming to achieve gender equality and a guarantee of rights for minorities in the AI era, this study group examines relationships between digital information technology and society. BAIRAL organizes monthly research meetings with guest speakers in a variety of fields.

Yuichiro Nishimura(Professor, Graduate School of Humanities and Sciences, Nara Women’s University)

 

Abstract

For this research meeting, Prof. Yuichiro Nishimura in the Graduate School of Humanities and Sciences at Nara Women’s University will introduce participatory map editing projects on the Internet.

Prof. Nishimura has investigated the local use of “crowdsourcing GIS,” which is a geographic information system edited by local people, and analyzed its utilization after disasters.

He will talk about specific examples of crowdsourcing GIS, its relationship with diversity in society, and its possibilities in the future, then discuss them with participants.
